Who inspires you? Those who are fearful but have the courage to do it anyway.

What’s one thing you find yourself thinking on a daily basis? Can I delegate this job to someone who will do it better than me? Drink more water. What is this person really saying?

What is the most important part of your routine, the thing that really keeps you on track mentally every day? Waking up without an alarm. Weekly communes with nature.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever given? For the most part, no one ever knows how. You just have to be committed to figuring it out.

Which trend for the coming year is your favorite: sustainability, personalization, or AI? Hopefully sustainability is more than a trend — this value should be core to every business, and I would argue, even at the cost of short term profitability.

What changes have you seen in the past decade when it comes to your field of work? Where do you see those changes continue to apply themselves in the coming decade? More female led unicorn companies in 2019 than ever before! Direct listings seem to be the way to go. Though hoping to see an increased interest from the investor community for small and medium sized businesses. Largely ignored by VC, these smaller scale businesses the lack a supportive ecosystem with which they could thrive. Perhaps these will continue to fuel a strong M&A market. Separately, I think we’ll continue to see more distributed teams as well.

Which trends do you think are most important for us to focus on in the next decade? Privacy, information credibility, deep sustainability. Curious to see what happens with blockchain; fiat money cannot be the future. AI in healthcare also seems promising.

What’s been an obstacle you’ve consistently run up against in this industry? If it doesn’t scale massively, it’s not worth doing.

Where should we be looking for inspiration on “what’s next” in investing? The youth.

What are you personally invested in (on an emotional level) over the next decade? I’ve been thinking a lot about education and the role technology and media can play here. There’s been many attempts at integrating tech into learning, but a system-wide reset is in order and I’d like to be part of that.
